About the Throw Blankets
Our collection of handwoven, patterned throws are inspired by traditional Laotian wedding blankets. Traditionally, wedding blankets are woven by young Lao women for their trousseau. Two panels are woven and sewn together with motifs that represent a peaceful, fortuitous and fertile marriage.
These handmade, functional, and beautiful pieces can easily be integrated into contemporary life. Read more on the symbolism and history of the wedding blankets.

About the Artisan
About the Artisan
The throws are woven in Baan Nayang, a village about three hours north of Luang Prabang. The throws come from two collectives. The first is led Ms. Navone, a master weaver and dyer. And, the second is led by Ms. Manomanh and Mae Manh.
Each step of the process is done by hand. The women grow, harvest and clean the cotton in the local fields. Before hand-weaving each piece, they hand spin the cotton yarn and dye the yarns.
The women all belong to the Tai Lue ethnic group, who live in the central valleys and are known for their cotton weaving. They bring their traditional weaving techniques into the contemporary designs.
