About the Artisan

Made in Ghardaïa, Algeria, an oasis town in the middle of the Saharan desert, master weaver Hocine Bazine creates traditional Berber wool rugs, using the handwoven methods and motifs that have been passed down for generations.

This is a one-of-a-kind rug made on a vertical loom in the tradition he learned from his grandmother.

Bazine brings his heritage to countries around the world while creating a resilient economy at home by purchasing wool from families in the area and employing other local weavers.
